Please consider that your retirement may not be the end of your life, but the beginning of a long "golden age". You may retire at age 60 and live until 90, that's thirty years of investing.
Medical advances are enabling people to live longer and longer. Many retirees will continuing drawing funds until they are 100 years old. If a person quits work in their 60's, the TSP funds will continue to grow for another 30 to 40 years.
Maybe you should be asking "what is the best investment for the next 35 years?"
