My father has recently began experienceling some serious health issues and i dont forsee him being able to continue working (mechanic for usps). He is 58 as of may.
I have been trying to determine what type of fers disability he falls under. If he is eligible for "immediate voluntary retirement" he would recieve 1% for each year worked - 10% in his case (minus penalities due to being under 62).
The mra+10 allows employees to defer the annuity until 62 to avoid penality which makes me lean towards it not being considered an immediate retirement. Which, if true, results in my father getting 60% in year 1, 40% until 62, and 14% thereafter.
