We fund plane tickets for our yearly vacations that way. We use the card for everything, and pay off the balance each month.

Get a cash back credit card like CitiBank (2% total back) or Capital One
(1.5% back) and set them to pay all your bills.
Then if you spend $500+/ month and get 2% back that is $10+ a month tax
free. The more you spend the more you get back. Just one thing though
you must pay off your balance each month or you don't really make out.
We have been doing that for years and it adds up.
