It  is not as simple as that. Some people need the tax breaks now. It is easy to say that the Roth is the way to go but in the end it all comes down to individual needs. I have known people who really need the extra money now and if they didn't have the tax break now would save less in the long run.

I didn't know TSP wasn't managed under the same constraints. That is amazing. A whole new generation can invest 100% in the Roth option and not pay a penny of tax on it once they retire. I hope everyone realizes how substantial that is and chooses to do so.
