[TSP_Strategy] Re: Gloom and Doom from RBS?

 

In situations like this, it would be helpful if the TSP offered the opportunity to invest in at least some inverse funds.  Perhaps that will occur in the future. 

With respect to the article, a few general comments...

The world did not enter a global recession on Jan 1.  It HAS BEEN in a global recession, with actions being taken worldwide to slow it and eventually turn it around. 

Japan, for example, has been most aggressive in this regard.

That said, as I have stated in the past, the US currently maintains the strongest equity market in the world, a market that has been bullish albeit sluggish.  Raising interest rates, as you have seen, only increases its sluggishness.

That is not to say, of course, that we cannot be dragged back down into a recession by world events, just that it is less likely to occur here, and that, to date, I don't see it happening.
