But what about this scenario; could it be that small caps is overvalued and now correcting itself and large caps is catching up with dollar valuations. And we maybe in the "prosperity range of the buisness cycle" when large caps performs better than other funds????
You're failing to consider how the current "short term" issue is affecting these results.
For example, if you look at returns from Jan 8, 2005 to Jan 8, 2015, the returns were as follows:
S fund: 120%
C fund: 72%
I fund: 11%
