Re: [TSP_Strategy] TSP Strategy Moves to F Fund

Personally, my financial advisor warned of having too much percentage in the L funds due to my planned retirement date of 8 years. It's just not enough exposure for he length of time. If I were Pullin out in say 4 years or less then I could see that philosophy. L g and f funds in my opinion won't come close to the returns long in the other funds.

My personal opinion of the L funds are very low. If you are going to set it and forget it, I would recommend something along the lines of  50% S, 40% C, 10% I. The L funds are too heavy into the G and F funds for my liking long term. If you want to roll with the group and try to beat the market, the group recommendation right now is 100% F  fund due to signs pointing toward a downturn in the market. That includes interfund transfer and future contributions.

Hello all,

This is my first post. Although I've had TSP for a couple of years I only recently joined the group and started to get serious about understanding the financial markets. I'm learning, but am still fairly ignorant of the various underlying logic behind certain financial decisions. It's this lack of knowledge that makes me especially hesitant to make moves. I am currently 100% in a L2040 Lifecycle fund, but do not know if I should, at this moment, move out into something else. And on this point, given my overall knowledge (i.e. lack thereof) while I'm reluctant to move to F, I'm also unsure as to whether a move to 100% G is wise. I recognize from reading posts from this group that there are rarely any "right" or "wrong" answers because of idiosyncratic preferences, but if you had to do one, would you now move to G or stay in 2040?

Thanks to everyone for sharing. I have learned and am still learning a lot.
