How about between 59 1/2 and 70 years old, converting them into Roth IRA (rollover to tradi. IRA and convert IRA)? them no RMD worry.

My wife will retire roughly 2 years before me(14 or 15 years from now). I'm thinking about rolling her TSP into a Vanguard fund like Vanguard Wellington or Vanguard Wellesley funds and drawing income right away to lessen the RMDs later on. I guess I'll need a CPA to help advise on the best strategies with taxes. Plus there is no telling what the TSP options will be in 15 years, it might be better to stay in the TSP by then.

When I started as a government engineer, I was told by the HR person if I hustled I could catch CSRS if I reported immediately. I was very young then and arrogant and I didn't, I delayed several months.  I envisioned my future temporary. 

 Well it wasn't and life certainly isn't easy today as you think it will be when you are in your twenties. In fact its pretty complicated.
