The key is not to chase high yields on crappy stocks. 3-6% can be accomplished with out too much risk. Verizon (VZ) has a nice dividend and a history of raising it safely.
Just saying with fidelity, Charles Schwab and others offering low cost index funds the slight increase of fees is worth it to get out of the tsp if your comfortable in the market to have more freedom of withdrawal and control over investments.
The annuity to me is a waste.
