As I said I choose not to go into the doomsday scenarios. I will say this, the time between the USD collapse and the entrance of the new currency will have another metal that will be of greater value. This metal does require a delivery device, hopefully multiple delivery devices and those who know how to operate them.
The gold is for after, not during.
If you think about it;
You cannot eat USD or stocks and bonds.
You cannot plant USD or stocks and bonds.
You cannot drink USD or stocks and bonds.
USD or stocks and bonds will not always provide you shelter.
There has never been a time that gold had no value. History is littered with examples of currencies, stocks and bonds that have lost ALL value.
