Basically I like to use a 1 & 2 standard deviation overlay on a 6 month chart. I trade leveraged ETFs both short and long. (However the system can still be used if restricted to the ETF equivalents of the TSP.) Along with some confirming momentum indicators I like to buy between the 1st and 2nd lower standard deviation. Never try to call the top but simply put a percentage trailing stop then tighten it as price crosses the mean line and gets up to the upper standard deviations. Up 17.25% YTD as of Friday.
