That's a good idea. I had always assumed the maximum was still 18K, whether it was all in a TSP or split between a TSP and IRA. According to Google, I can have 18K of my money in a TSP, plus another 2-3K for the company matching 5%, and 5.5K in an IRA.
Sounds like a plan to me. The more I can reduce my taxable income, the better lol. I already have a TDAmeritrade account from back in the day, so maybe I can go with them for an IRA.
