For the record, the Dems had control of congress, introduced the bill, and held the majority vote for the 2008 bailout (Hillary Clinton and Obama cast Yea votes as part of that majority) - http://www.politifact.com/oregon/statements/2010/oct/18/kurt-schrader/kurt-schrader-says-more-republicans-democrats-vote/.
Who cares if Boehner cried? He cried all the time (and made me cry cuz he had no spine). That doesn't mean he had the power to do anything since Pelosi's was SOTH. Now we have Ryan, who has no real interest in controlling spending either - not many in Congress do.
One of the main things the fed is supposed to fund is the military (or at least organize and provide for the common defense), not continuously adding to and increasing social programs (to buy votes - let's be realistic about the reason). Making adjustments to the federal retirement plan so that it can be sustainable (that's why FERS replaced CSRS to begin with) may be one piece of the large puzzle and part of revamping things. However, simply making those changes that only affect federal employees won't solve many budget issues. Am I happy this will affect me? No, but if this is just one small piece of tightening the budget belt AND real, long term thinking changes are coming as well, so be it.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone.

Subject: Re: [TSP_Strategy] Re: Huge cuts "proposed" to Federal benefitsThe high debt came from liberal freebies like Obama phones. So the guy I voted for has made a budget that considers me my kids and my grandkids. Folks talk about rich people like they are a disease. Just shows how liberal brainwashed they are. Being wealthy and selfish is the same as being poor and selfishl. Wake up Americans and stop listening to the liberal media and universities. For God's sake what happened to American know how and the "can-do" spirit. Please spare us the liberal rhetoric and robo-facebook chants, become self aware and sustaining. I built my wealth in a job for the public benefit. I was not paid any more than the slacker sitting next to me sleeping at his desk. I invested. I planned and now I am one of the wealthy you complain about.
How's the nap going?

I find it unfortunate that people within government trying to play politics when the guy they voted for wants to screw over their colleagues. Then they cap it off with phrases like "it's a new world and we have a high debt."
You need to look at his entire plan. Which certainly does not screw over the rich who can certainly afford to retire anytime, yet your colleagues are asked to handle the burden instead of paying off the debt. NICE!!! Not to mention the poor and sick. Stop being apologist. As history bares it out over and over again, the current party in power has shown no regard for having a high debt load. Look at the president's own private business.
