If my calculations are correct, TSP Strategy's YTD return is a 5.13% loss based on these closing prices:
31-Dec-2015 (S=35.2356) [Closing price for 2015]
08-Mar-2016 (S=33.3871) [The day of the move from S to F]
S Fund experienced a 5.25% loss over that period
08-Mar-2016 (F=17.3157)
27-Apr-2016 (F=17.5121)
F Fund experienced a 1.13% gain since the move
So YTD return is 0.9475*1.0013 = 0.9487, which is a 5.13% loss to date.
Of course your contributions over that time less the impact on your current balance.

Thanks MikeI see that now. It's a small comfort however. I go by actual numbers and YTD my balance had gone down in spite of almost four months of contributions.I'll keep hoping my balance goes up
You're looking at the increase (or loss) for the month, not the year. The F find is up 3.29% for the year.
