Re: [TSP_Strategy] Re: Cover Your Assets

Hi Paul, Believe you previously mentioned if SPX hit 2,103 it would break a barrier and go much higher, SPX is currently at 2,098, considering investing more in the C fund. Currently have 15% C, 35% S, and 50% F. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I absolutely agree with what Scott and Sarah mentioned above.  Although this forum should avoid to discuss politics, but when the political policy impacts our financial benefits, that is indeed a financial advisory topic, not a politic in my view.  Sometimes, I don't like when people blindly support their affiliated party without knowing what they are actually doing.  Do you remember when we had several years of pay freeze? So we just had a several years of pay cut effectively, but you didn't mind that pay cuts?  The irony is that the same budget deal cost us (FED) several years of pay freeze (saving GOV just several billion dollars) while very same bill contained the estate tax cut that reduces GOV's tax revenue of over 60 some billions from just 6300 accounts affected.  So several millions of FED's sacrifice to save just several billions and multiply those savings to roughly 10 fold and gave back to those 6300 some wealthy folks.  So if you really think these policy maker's idea of "Budget Cuts" should do any good for the country, then think again and see what's really behind those policies.  This is a country where people should have power to elect their representatives who should represent majority people's interest. But, do they really represent your interest?  I don't care about political party lines as long as the person I vote for does listen and represent what majority voters are demanding. Just my two cents worth....

If one of the parties is a threat to our retirement or benefits then I say it should be discussed, even if people who support that party don't like it or can't defend it.

Exactly. We're all subscribed to the group for TSP advice, not advice on politics.

So when the Congress takes up the issue of whether to allow outside mutual funds in the TSP, we don't discuss it?
