You should meet with a financial advisor that "specializes" in fed retirements and TSP.  My wife and I met with Winter Troxel in the past (even though I'm still 10 years away), and I recommend him.  He knows all about the federal retirement systems, how SS works, etc.  There is no sure fire way to guarantee anything.  G is only going to grow at 2-2.5% a year.  If you miss out on even a few of the best days of growth in C, S or I over the next 5 years, you're going to cost yourself a lot of money.  At the same time, most expect a down turn in the next couple years.  Difficult decision for sure, but I'd probably stay put until you can speak with someone and come up with a plan.

I jumped to the G fund after the market took a downturn because I have so little in my TSP.  I could not afford the losses - and they were hitting me hard.   Now my TSP just is not growing - even putting 15% of my paycheck into it.  My account distribution is .037% in C and 99.63% in G.  My contribution allocation is 25% in the C fund and 75% in the G fund.  Do any of you  financial wizards out there have any ideas how my TSP can grow?  I plan to retire in about 5 years or so.  Thanking you all in advance for your wisdom..

The last few months have been ouchie as I have lost enough to buy me two of my dream cars (Camaro SS).....
Maybe once the TSP is finally modernized. And with the Mrs. permission, of course.

I would tend to agree that this

is a sales effort.  That

said, the issues raised are legitimate.



However, we ARE still in a bull

market, to date, despite the recent declines.  I do not
see

a reason to

move to the G fund.
