A vague prediction of a correction isn't why this story got coverage. It was that Goldman thinks the correction will occur soon and is confident enough that it would treat it as a buying opportunity.
"Whatever the trigger, a correction of some kind seems a high probability in the coming months," Peter Oppenheimer, chief global equity strategist at Goldman Sachs, wrote Monday.
I'm sorry, but "soon" and the coming months are not the same to me. I also previously stated to expect a correction in the Aug to Oct period. I don't equate that to be soon. The story got coverage because people are freaking out over the Friday downturn so everyone is going to the Wizard of Goldman to tell them what to do. They don't know any more than anyone else does. Its like the seismologists who predict an earthquake soon in California with absolute certainty. The only thing they can't tell u is when it will occur.
