I am usually a risk taker, but I have been burned a couple times too many lately. That being said, we are what appears to be 10 years into a 7 to 10 year correction cycle as far as the stock market goes. And as the stock market goes, so goes our TSP.
We all remember 2008, right? and before that was the dot com of 2000/2001, and so on. If the market is already past due for a multi TRILLION dollar correction, how can we, move our funds quick enough to avoid the majority of the losses that hit so fast while still enjoying the gains while they last?
I don't understand with the technology around today, why we have to wait so long for a trade/order to take place when the rest of the world can have instantaneous stop loss triggers and get out before they lose a single percent more than they are comfortable losing.
Our current situation is that we will be DEAD LAST getting out of a position as compared to the rest of the world with this current order submission strategy.
I mean, even IF we as a collective shelled out thousands of dollars a month for advice, and information, is it really going to come 1 to 2 days ahead of everyone else's so that our trades can be competitive and not eat all of everyone else's losses?
Just my .02.
