Michael Bond would probably tell us that "sell in May and go away" is an oversimplification. The exact dates to exit and reenter the equities market can make a difference in returns. But the underlying premise of seasonal investing based on lower volume summer trading and sideways movement has some support. Of course knowing when to jump back in is the key.
