You requested no politics here and I'm trying to honor that, but you also asked my reason
I remained in the market during Brexit, the 1 day drop and the following rally
I'm presently ~50% G, remainder F, S, C, no I
Great Britain is a fairly small economy in relation to the US
G fund is basically cash and it takes a day to enact a move, so post 11am friday is too late for tuesday
I have 2 moves for November left
I lost about $50,000 in the Dec 2015/mid January 2016 downdraft, have retired, almost 70, and it's really tough to recover and I am still down that amount, which took over 2.5 years of bi-weekly deposits along with gains (2 spouses)
based on early voting, I'm unsure how Florida will go, except the reports that numerous republicans are early voting democrat HRC and republican down ballot, but only loose rumors, so I'm cautiously optimistic
If DT wins I expect chaos in the world markets because of his inappropriate and incendiary statements about treaties, agreements, etc
causing uncertainty and a rush to safety, even at a loss,
DT's alleged ties to hostile foreign governments
An attack on the feds benefits and a public Nixon style enemies list and chaos in government for 2-4 years
If HRC wins I expect a sigh of relief from world markets and a market rally
However, here in Florida there are hundreds of DT signs, many on 4x4 solid posts in the ground, overhead DT electronic signs, no HRC even in my yard, because I frankly fear my neighbors whether DT or HRC wins due to "fear for my life stand your ground and the plethora of armed citizens, (1 Johnson sign)
we ran into a "screaming crazy lady" during early voting in Florida, whom "came back because she wanted to be sure her vote was counted correctly"
(seriously screaming inside the voting area while quietly being escorted out)
I frankly feel like I have returned to the 1930's with Father Coughlin spewing division and Benito Mussolini,
along with the 1940's and 1950's and Joe McCarthy and enemies everywhere and rampant fear
There are problems that need fixing and the middle class need reviving, unlike what has been happening since 1980
the Ayn Rand objectivists need to leave congress.
Fairness needs to return
We are in serious economic times with no easy solutions,
Automation is taking jobs,
the energy sector is transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables and causing job loss,
climate change is causing droughts and mass migrations with refugees that will only get worse
Remember, YOU ASKED WHY. so no apologies,
however,
I won't discuss this again, and I toned it way down
