Subject: [TSPStrategy] Metaverse/Cryptos/Blockchain/NFT's
[Edited Message Follows]Updates in Blue (12/07/21)
All,
I have decided to add 5% of my net worth in the Metaverse/Crypto/Blockchain/NFT space. I have paid off my car and will use those funds and any extra funds I have to increase my exposure. I have 10 or so years to retire and perhaps the gains will be well worth it 10 years from now. The news of Facebook pivoting to the Metaverse (Wired Article) and the exploding NFT market makes me think that we are in the brink of the next technology phase. I read this article (Web 3.0) that makes sense in the evolution of the Internet. Web 1.0 started with read only, companies put up information, Web 2.0 was the social media (read and write) era, Web 3.0 is the blockchain, smart contracts, etc.
My goal is to gradually purchase the following digital assets monthly. I am also setting a goal for myself to read as much about this space in order for me to be more well verse and make better decisions in the future. Note: I am investing as if this will get cut in half multiple times.
- 3% in Bitcoin, Ethereum (the top two and most widely use)
- BTC - Here is a good article on Bitcoin.
- ETH - Here is a good article on Ethereum.
- 2% a mix of other coins, NFTs, etc
- UNI - Uniswap is a decentralized exchange.
- SUSHI - SushiSwap is an Ethereum-based decentralized exchange.
- LINK - Chainlink uses multiple data sources or 'oracles' to decentralize the data feeding into the smart contracts, so bad actors can't input faulty information to manipulate the blockchain.
- MANA - Decentraland virtual reality video game where users can interact with each other using avatars. Exposure to the Metaverse and NFTs (non-fungible tokens.
- SOL/ADA - Ethereum competitor. Next generation of Ethereum.
- GRT - Provides indexing services for the blockchain.
- ENJ - NFT Platform
Here are the top 10 publicly listed companies that hold Bitcoin. As more and more companies/hedge funds/government hold bitcoin, I believe the price will just keep going up.
Part II - Cryptocurrency
So I am currently using COINBASE and Binance.us to purchase crypto. Coinbase does have fees, but since it is a publicly traded company, I can sleep without worries at night.
Here is a cool website to learn more about Ethereum.
https://eth.build/
I am going to concentrate my portfolio with Bitcoin and Ethereum. I have other coins, I currently have ADA, LTC, BNB and VET. Yes, I have dabble in meme coins, I have DOGE, SHIB and SAFEMOON. I want to learn how to mine coins if feasible, also would like to learn how to run a node like lighting for bitcoin.
As for the meme coins, I don't expect much from them, if they hit zero and I have losses, then I will tax harvest those losses on the gains I have on my options trading account. Below is a snapshot using a website coin tracker.
Part III - NFT;s
A couple of years ago, my son asked me if he could get some CryptoKitties. This is when I downloaded Coinbase and purchase a bit of ETH. Then I had to make a Metamask account to transfer the ETH to and connect Metamask to CryptoKitties.

My next NFT was from Macy's. This was a free Macy's Thanksgiving Parade NFT on sweet.io. More about the limited edition parade NFT - https://www.macys.com/social/macys-parade-nft/?cache=1638588005845
Here is the one I got.

My next NFT was a headache, since the web traffic and popularity took me over a day to purchase the $50 NFT for the new Matrix Avatars on Nifty's.com. https://niftys.com/events/matrix
This is NFT program is a multiyear program where you can develop your avatar. This NFT cost me $50.

What's next? I am looking at Tom Brady's NFT from Draftkings coming up soon, but thinking more about what I want to do is be more of a collector in things I like or art from whomever that I would like to own. Another thought is owing part of a Banksy painting in the form of an NFT.
Here is the article I found about this NFT. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/01/arts/design/banksy-nft-loic-gouzer-particle.html

If anyone has questions, I am happy to answer any questions. Remember, I am still learning, I am not an expert.
