when i was in early 50's and still had kids i had life ins., i think fegli, @ x5. when i hit 60, i noticed premiums skyrocketed up and were going to continue. so i stopped that and re-routed ca$h to TSP. also maxed out tsp and when could did the $5,500 and $6,000 "catchup". i doubt i will live another 20 yrs. wife did calcs and realized a $500,000 20 year term life cost less / year than 10% reduction for spouse if she went first. life insurance is for the young

I was reading that article and prepared to be pleased.....but poor Shirley is making less??!!! Uh oh. Wait!! As winfield pointed out what's the deal with all the insurance? I may not be number 420 in the club, but I will certainly have enough that I don't need life insurance, don't plan on a survivor annuity, prolly not on the LTC insurance. Without those she's right back to her normal income *if I did the rough math in my head* correctly. Hopefully she won't have much of a house payment left and Shirley will be OK.
