This is an IRA issue not necessarily TSP...but I need help.
I'm a federal employee...getting the max out of TSP, getting matching and in 2015 started a ROTH account in my TSP. I'm also a military retiree. The family situation is that my wife has a medical condition that keeps her from gettting a "regular" job. As such, she has a small business. It makes less than $25,000.00 before taxes.
My question is what should I have been doing all along (since the medical condition in 2009) to save for her retirement as well? Can I use my military retirement $$ to fund her retirement (whether I get any tax deduction or not). Better yet, can I just put my military retirement into some type of IRA vehicle...or am I limited by the IRS tax rules?
Any information would be greatly appreciated....
Dennis
