Re: [TSPStrategy] Stay in S or go to G?

I'm with Kevin on this, and like he mentioned a lifecycle also provides an automatic rebalance and you can participate in one that meets your risk tolerance and/or goals.

I haven't changed much, but at the end of 2020 for the first time I went from a combined C/S (80/20) to G/C/S/I (30 G, rest mostly in equities mainly C). It did well last year, but of course dropping with this. I've stayed put for the moment. I'll reevaluate it daily to see if I'll make any changes to the allocation and contributions.

If you're in for the long haul, I suggest just figure your tolerance risk. I stayed in C/S during 2007-09 & in 2018 for both allocation and contributions - never bothered looking. That did well.

If you have a shorter time frame, then you'd want to see how much risk to tolerate (or makes sense) and potential outlooks (other income sources, etc).

I agree with several who've mentioned several uncertainties pending including the Ukraine situation. It's complex when you consider that Russia provides ~40% natural gas supplies to the EU nations. Most places in the EU use individual natural gas boilers for heating vs a very small amount that use heat pumps. This is when energy/natural resources come into play with national security. So how this will play out has a lot of uncertainties with the EU still facing weeks of cold weather.

You are limited to two trades per month, but the Lifecycle funds rebalance everyday.
This allows them to take advantage of these low prices to buy more shares.
During volatile times the Lifecycle funds can be very beneficial to your TSP balance.
