If you have a brokerage account, such as Schwab like I have

in the lower left corner is a box

type in

DWCPF and that will give you the number, I'm not sure of the conversion factor they use to get the S fund number

also you can get it, although slower from TSPCentral

Thank you for the reply.  I consider myself pretty smart but as far as investing goes I am completely inept at understanding the dynamics which you guys talk about so elegantly.   I've tried but it doesn't seem to click.  I once knew a PhD who simply couldn't understand computers and I know a couple,  both of whom are surgeons but they don't know how to make a reservation online.
