I put that together along with my own take on things, primarily that there was higher probability of marginal losses than marginal gains given how far the market has ran already along with the political uncertainty, and sent that email.  I was hoping to *poke* Ms. Sarah into action so that people like Mary, who apparently aren't completely up-to-speed on the TSP rules, would be able to get out before the month rolled-over and they would lose the "Run to Safety i.e. G Sanctuary" move opportunity.

SO...for the Marys out there and anyone who just got to their email tonight...You can still flee to G tomorrow as long as you have it submitted before 12 pm Eastern Time tomorrow.

This will protect your gains and leave you with the ability to make 2 investment (as opposed to protection) moves in January.

Not taking credit for anything but the thing I hated the worst when I started watching the various TSP advisors is when they send out a change email last-minute.  Some of us actually work for a living and can't check our emails every day at 11:55 am EST.

Best Regards,
I ain't runnin' shit,

I've got Sarah pulling the trigger tomorrow to preserve buy-and-holder gains.  Tomorrow so people who don't see the notice in time tomorrow still have the 31st to pull out.  A smart move which would preserve 2 moves for January to get back in in a stutter-step fashion.

Re: [TSPStrategy] G Fund

Thanks Sarah!

How easy if is to forget that markets can go both down and up!

Yes, of course we were hit with the pandemic, but what, we're in an 11-year up market?

What a time that'll be when a big, extended slide down happens!

Some things i read warn of frothiness now. New EV stocks values way exceed value of all old guard automakers? Dot-com run up anyone? :)

Re: [TSPStrategy] S FUND

@Judd
i am    -->>_NOT_<<--   giving investment advice.

im presenting some of my reasoning after around 40 years in the markets and probabilities
not much more, you are free to ignore it as you wish, present cogent arguments what have you

I look at a picture and take in the gestalt
add more information or take away information
look at the information at different scales

If you have better information or analysis or thoughts, then you are certainly free to present it , as is everyone here

meanwhile, over the last week, just looking at stuff, the market seems a bit "frothy"

You have to move by noon EST for it to be processed same day. If you do it now, you'll get tomorrow's closing prices.

Re: [TSPStrategy] G Fund

Didn't you say that you also moved to G? What is it you think you're doing when you're moving to G? You are selling the funds that you were in, and buying the fund(s) that you move to. That's how it works when you do an IFT.

I seem to recall early on you could "trade" the funds
Now, the rules seem to be, 2 changes per month _plus_ one to the G fund (maybe)
trading seems discouraged
from my experience, traders seem to lose though

The idea of timing the market is when the market is high, you jump off the wave instead of riding it back down. When doing this, you keep the profits that you've gained by selling C and/or S at the high price. Also, when the market drops back down and you buy back into C and/or S, you end up with more shares since you are buying back in at a cheaper price. Hope that makes sense.
