The market rose at an annualized return of 16.26 percent during the Obama administration.  I wonder Jan did you vote your pocketbook then? I doubt it.

Politics have everything to do with (the) markets. Long overdue trade balancing, excessive regulation upon industry, social unrest abroad, decisions impacting deficits, rates rising fast due to years of artificially low rates, paying Peter for printing Paul's phony money for 8 years. Not to mention doubling of the national debt.

In conclusion, charts are great but in these times where talk of open borders, amnesty for 20+million, raising of taxes, socialism, abondonment of constitutional principals and open defiance of federal laws, politics  cannot be ignored. My suggestion would be to seriously consider how your vote impacts all the above and if you're truly concerned with your TSP, vote you pocketbook!

Dear Aloha Jan,

Unfortunately, our huge federal deficits have only grown and will only grow larger in this economic environment.  At some point, the USA will have to pay the piper and it will be far worse than in 2008 or 2001.

Next year will likely include a period of severe retrenchment.
