As of last Friday's close, both 50-SMA and 60-EMA are still well below their respective 200 days moving averages.  So I'm not convinced on this rally at all.  In fact, if I were in the market, I'd definitely use this bounce as a selling opportunity.  Knowing that there are too many divergences presented among many major indexes and Dow Theory Confirmation happened (meaning both DJT and DJIA made a lower low in the same direction: guess which way? DOWN), I'd put higher probability for the market to change the course very soon. Well, that's just my opinion though!

While the article has interesting circumstantial evidence, I suspect that the suggestion of a positive market is correct this year. My shorter term trend indicator moved sharply into bullish territory two weeks ago while the several-month indicator is still bearish but is improving very slowly. I use the latter for my own assessments, since I am not a short-term trader. Usually the short-term indicator will precede the several-month indicator when a definite change of direction occurs.

Admittedly, interpreting a single indicator over a very short time amounts to mumbo jumbo. However, the experience of tracking them over decades, in my opinion, can elevate them at least slightly higher in believability. Either way, this is just a comment is not a basis for a change in strategy or allocation.
