In 2018, I plan on mimicking my TSP interfund transfers within my portfolio by trading equivalent ETF's. The question that I have concerns the COB aspect of an IFT.
According to the TSP web site, when I request an IFT before Noon on Day X, the transfer will be processed at COB. So, for example, if I transfer from I Fund to F Fund before Noon on Day X, by COB on Day X, I will be 100% F Fund.
My question is, at what price does the TSP sell I Fund and buy F Fund on Day X?
Does TSP use Day X's Closing price when selling the I Fund and buying the F Fund?
Or does TSP use Day X's Opening price when selling the I Fund and buying the F Fund?
Or does TSP use the Current Price at the time I request the IFT? Like selling I Fund and buying the F Fund using both fund's current price at 10:38AM on Day X?
I'm asking because I want to be as accurate as possible when mimicking my TSP strategy to my ETF strategy.
When requesting an IFT before Noon on Day X, should I sell EFA (I Fund) and then buy AGG (F Fund) on the morning of Day X? Just before market close on Day X? Or at the same time as the IFT at 10:38AM on Day X?
Thanks in advance.
