Dear Trainers,
National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (Belapur, Navi Mumbai) conducts pre-service & in-service trg in special education. They are organizing 2 five days programs for which they have requested me to suggest / help contact appropriate resource persons.
Details of the programs & topics required are as follows:
FDP for Faculty of Teacher Training Institutes in special education. 31st oct - 4th nov.
25 faculty from all over Maharashtra (many from rural areas) have registered for this program.
Topics suggested by them are (may be covered in 3 hrs each):
1. Training methodologies (special education teacher trg prgs normally follow the traditional lecture methods - at the most using PPT/OHP sometime. But it still is very much lecture based. They have no exposure to various training methodologies which will make delivery of the curriculum interesting.
2. Adult Learning ( most of the faculty in special education are basically teachers and are trained to teach children. They happen to get appointed as faculty with no inputs into how to conduct training for adults).
MDP for Principals of special schools : 8th Nov - 12th Nov. 25 principals of special schools for intellectually and hearing impaired from all over maharashtra have registered for the program.
Topics suggested are:
1. Strategic, contingency and succession planning: majority of special schools have NO long term plans. The principals are basically teachers who have become principals by virtue of their seniority. They have no management & administrative inputs at all. They start projects without planning and then go begging for money and settle for whatever staff they get at that time, thereby compromising on the quality of work!!!
2. Resouce management: managing finances and people. Motivating people, appraising performances.
3. Competency Mapping: Principals no doubt are good at assigning responsibilities as per their opinion of the abilities of their staff. But if this is done in a systematic manner, outputs can be enhanced within the available resources.
The NIMH pays Rs. 1000/-per day / Rs. 500/- for half a day (including travel) for this honorary work. I am sure members realize that this isn't a commercial assignment, its delivering training to Teachers & Pricnipals for a cause.
Those interested can directly get in touch with Pranita Madkaikar on 9870149020 for delivering the sessions.
Thanking you in anticipation
