That's for unscheduled sick leave, i.e., calling in sick.  We're talking about scheduling sick leave.  If you don't know, you're able to use sick leave for scheduled healthcare appointments, which can include dental, vision, chiro, even massage appointments if they're for medical reasons.

So, early in a normal fed career, Roth is DEFINITELY the better option.  Late in your career, traditional is DEFINITELY the better option.  The only question is when to switch from one to the other.  Also, changes to the tax code (the last couple of years of lower taxes likely made Roth a better choice for many) need to be considered.
