cool. I lived with my parents in Verona while in elementary school. I find myself wandering in Verona via google a little too often. I retired in 2006. One thing I learned is that costs continually increase and sometimes like this year they really increase. Medical costs with BlueCross, Medicare, and the new MedicarePartD help a lot, but not nearly enough. It doesn't help that we have gone outside of some of the normal medical care channels to try things to prolong joints (stem cell injections...no coverage but definitely pushing joint replacement out a few years), (Rolfing to aid in flexibility), etc. A long awaited heart valve replacement unfortunately led to a small stroke and relearning walking has been very challenging.
I would suggest for annuities to look at Transamerica, they manage the old Vanguard annuity program. I haven't done recent comparisons but the results have been really nice.
I do wonder about our wonderful federal retiree programs. I'm curious to see what members are doing differently in 2025, if anything.
Enjoy your retirement.
