GARBHASAYA VISUDDHI KRIT

-Ayurveda Bhava Prakas

"Clean the stomach of all impurities" is the medical advice given in
this ancient medical test "Bhava Prakasa". Stomach is the seat of
all diseases is a well known and widely accepted medical
proposition. Indigestion, indiscretion in ways of taking food,
partaking carcinogenic substances are the disease producing agents.
All first make their nest in the stomach and spread on other parts
of the body and make unseen ravages in man.

And to counteract this simple looking but grievously dangerous
disorder of stomach (garbhasaya) the great healing science of herbal
medicine Ayurveda suggests on important, easily practicable tip of
advice. It is the regular intake of cumin seeds powdered (Jheera
Chooma) and mixed with a little jaggery of a about 5 grams weight
will rid of the stomach (visuddhi krit) of all disorders like liver
disorder, want of appetite or anorexia, as it is called.

It may be noted that at the time of wedding, the most sacred moment
of man's life, the Muhurt, both the man and woman keep their hands
upon the cumin seed jaggery mixture on the heads of the spouses.
This practice indicates symbolically how great this cumin seed
mixture is in importance to the continuity of human race.
