In addition to SWVXX, I like to use USFR. SWVXX is similar to a mutual fund or a TSP fund, so that if you sell shares you get that days closing price and you don't have the cash until the next day.
With USFR, it's like a stock or ETF, so you can sell and instantly have access to the cash to buy anything else or withdraw the cash.
I retired at the end of 2018...and finally rolled over my TSP to an IRA 3 years ago (to TD Ameritrade, which transferred to Schwab 2 years ago).
I have no regrets in making that decision, though Schwab's online trading platform isn't as good as TDA's was.
