A lot of experts agree with "you can't time the market," and, I agree with what they say just because of the seeming consensus (seeming) on that matter. I understand that concept applied mostly to buying and trading individual stocks vs investing in index funds such as S or C. I don't think that is quite the same as seeking safe harbor in the G fund to preserve some gains. TSP investors have that option which is unavailable to other folks outside of "stuffing it in a mattress". I am very glad to have moved to G during the times when I slept better with my funds out of the equity market.
