I am using coinbase, which can be downloaded on your smartphone using the google play store, this is a secure an insured exchange. They only have 4 coins to trade. I buy Ethereum on coinbase and then deposit them to Binance, which is another exchange in Hong Kong, which has alot of alternative coins, I like XVG (verge), and TRX (tron) currently trading at $.11 and $.07, respectively.
