I think you both bring up a great point: don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Bill O'Neil argues that you should put all of your eggs in one basket, and that you then watch that basket very closely. :)

FWIW, the 1980-2007 0% growth is arbitrary. How about 1970-1980 with 845% ROI? ...buying when it's low and selling when it's high is a no brainer. If it hits $700, I'd buy some for sure but I wouldn't empty my nest egg to do it.

While we could also say that if you bought the C fund in 2000 and held to 2013, you would have made 0% on those funds as well, in the case of gold, we're talking twice as long.

If buying when low and selling when high was a no brainer, everyone would be doing it.
Right now, IMHO, selling the precious metals short is a no brainer, over the next few months.
